The Institute of Constitutionalism and Student Union of Law School commonly launched the second stage of Constitutionalism Lecture in academic reporting hall of CUPL in Changping district on May 17th.
Professor Dingjian Cai, the dean of the Institute of Constitutionalism, Professor Renbo Wang and Jianxun Wang delivered a wonderful speech entitled “Dependence for Democracy, the Response to Current Anti-democracy Views’.
Professor firstly retorted and criticized the three main theories of anti-democracy, “Democracy is Dangerous”, “Democracy is Harmful” and “the Quality of One State’s Citizen”. Then he introduced the thousands years evolution of the principle of democracy from the directive democracy of Athenian and modern democracy with extensive references. Furthermore, he profoundly analyzed the essence meaning of democracy and its difference with the “majority tyranny” and “false majority democracy”. Finally, combining with current hot topic issue, he introduced the role of democracy to stimulate the economy and prevent the governmental corruption.
