The Institute for Jurisprudence Studies

The Institute for Jurisprudence Studies (IJS) in China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) was approved to provide doctoral training in 2004. The Jurisprudence Studies of the CUPL have distinctive characteristics, and its research, which covers a variety of jurisprudence issues, leads the way on both domestic and global fronts.

The IJS consists 8 professors and 4 associate professors.

The IJS provides the following modules:

Undergraduate Modules: Introduction to Jurisprudence, The Principles of Jurisprudence, Seminars of Jurisprudence, Comparative Law, Western Legal Thought, and Feminist Jurisprudence;

Graduate Modules: Jurisprudence Frontier, Legal Methodology, Western Legal Philosophy, Legal Sociology, Comparative Law, Law and Economics, and Legal Language.

Legal Research

In the last five years the members of the IJS have published sixty-five articles in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index journals, twenty-five monographs and translation works, and thirteen textbooks. The members have participated in eight projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China, and one project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Moreover, the members have completed twenty projects at provincial and ministry-level, and earned multiple awards from the Ministry of Education of the PRC.
