Prof. Michael Faure is currently a professor and doctoral advisor at Erasmus University, as well as a professor and doctoral advisor at Maastricht University. He is the Academic Director of the European Institute of Transnational Law at Maastricht University, Chairman of the Academic Committee of IUS COMMUNE Research School, Director of the European Centre for Tort and Insurance Law, Chairman of the Environmental Executive Council of Flemish, Belgium and an academician of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In 2011, he was specially appointed as an expert in Law and Economics of CUPL by Ministry of Education. His research fields include: comparative law and economics, international environmental law, environmental criminal law, tort law, insurance law, law and economics analysis, etc. He has written individually or cooperatively about nearly 100 books and published nearly hundreds of academic papers in many European and American academic journals.
